Frequently asked questions
What counts as one "mix" on the free tier?
Each time you click Generate and SetPrep returns a plan, that's one mix. Re-running to refine the order or cue points counts as another. So Generate → Re-run → Re-run = 3 mixes used. Plan accordingly, or upgrade to Pro for unlimited.
When does the free-tier limit reset?
On the 1st of each calendar month, midnight your local time. If you used your 3 mixes by April 20th, you get 3 more on May 1st.
Do I need a credit card for the free tier?
No. Free is genuinely free — no card details, no trial countdown, no surprise charges. Just install and start prepping.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay — all processed securely via Polar. Prices are shown in your local currency (GBP, USD, or EUR) and tax is handled automatically per region.
How does the 14-day refund work?
Email support@setprep.app within 14 days of any charge — initial or renewal — and we'll refund the full amount. No questions, no friction. Refunds typically appear within 5–10 business days depending on your card issuer.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel via your Polar customer portal (link in your receipt email) or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep Pro access until then.
How do I get my licence key after paying?
Polar emails your licence key immediately on purchase. Open SetPrep → Settings (gear icon, top right) → paste the key → Save. SetPrep validates it instantly and removes the free-tier limit. If you don't receive it within a few minutes, check spam or email us.
Can I use one licence on multiple Macs?
Yes — one licence key covers up to 3 of your own Macs (home studio + laptop + backup machine is the typical use case). Sharing the key with other people violates the terms. Email us if you have a legitimate multi-device need beyond 3.
What happens when I downgrade from Pro to Free?
Your account drops to the free-tier limit (3 mixes/month) at the end of your current billing period. All your data — playlist history, settings, generated mixes — stays intact. Re-upgrade anytime to restore unlimited access.
Why are the prices lower than I'd expect?
SetPrep is brand new. The beta is launching May 2026 and we're still in the early stages of building. These prices reflect that honestly — not a fake discount designed to look generous.
We ship improvements every week. As the product matures and the feature set grows, the price will increase for new subscribers. If you're on an annual plan, your rate is locked in for that full year regardless of what we ship. If you're on monthly, we'll always give advance notice before any change.
Will the price ever change?
Yes, over time. SetPrep will keep getting better and the price will reflect that for new subscribers. Annual subscribers have a personal guarantee from our founder that their rate won't increase during their current subscription year. We'll always communicate changes well in advance.
Is there a student discount?
Email us at support@setprep.app from your .edu or .ac.uk address with proof of enrolment. We'll send a 50% discount code for the annual plan.
Do you offer team or multi-DJ pricing?
For teams of 5+ DJs — residencies, festival crews, DJ schools — email us. We'll set up bulk licensing at 30%+ off.
What if SetPrep shuts down?
SetPrep writes cue points and XML directly into your Rekordbox database and files. If we ever shut down, everything you've already generated keeps working in Rekordbox forever — hot cues, memory cues, colour codes, the lot. You won't be able to generate new mixes (the AI requires our server), but nothing you have is lost.
